The Right Mindset to Reach Your Goals

I don’t know about you, but the past several weeks of quarantine, I have found myself in a rut. It’s almost as if all of our lives have been put on pause and we are just waiting on someone to press play again.

This pandemic has forced us to slow down and sometimes “slowing down” can make you feel like you are not progressing toward your goals.

This past week I’ve been watching my 11 month old learn how to walk. I’m always amazed at a child’s determination and resilience while reaching big milestones. At first it was only a step here and there. He was cautious but he had a goal in his mind. He wants to keep up with his big brother.

There have been lots of falls, bumps and bruises. But after every fall he gets back up and tries again. And again. And again. Now, only days later, his two steps have turned into ten. No doubt, in the coming weeks, he will be running around our house.

Today I want to encourage and remind you that we are all born with a natural desire to reach our goals. If you are waking up and putting your best foot forward, you are making progress. You may not be where you want to be yet but be proud of every little step you make in the right direction. Stop worrying about the speed that you are rising because forward is forward. Don’t look back or dwell on the negative or your mistakes. Don’t compare yourself to others because we all grow and learn at our own pace. Tomorrow is another day to wake up and make more steps in the right direction.

Once you reach that goal. Set another. Think about it. Want it. Go get it! You can do it.
